Background of Karen Schmitt
Karen is a full-time professional indexer.  Her background gives her both the specialized and general knowledge base needed to create your indexes.

Prior to pursuing a career in indexing, Karen worked as a clinical social worker for fifteen years.  Through her education and clinical practice, Karen became highly knowledgeable in psychology, psychiatry, social work, sociology, and some fields of medicine.  Her main specialty was psychotherapy, but she also practiced in child welfare and domestic violence.  She received a regional award for her work with children and families and two awards for her pioneering work in domestic violence.

She was the branch director of an outpatient mental health clinic and managed, not only her practice, but a staff of seven.  These organizational skills will help you receive the quality index you want.

Karen graduated from the indexing course at the University of California, Berkeley with high grades and the instructor's accolades. Comments on her last class project included, "what a professional, polished, nicely phrased, well-balanced and delightful index.... It's one of the finest I have seen."

Samples of Karen's indexes are available upon request.
